Globally, over 240 million children live with disabilities - 95% of them in low- and middle-income countries. Many are not identified or supported until after age five, missing a critical window for early development.

This delay contributes to poorer outcomes, avoidable deaths, and lifelong exclusion.

To address this, Liliane Fonds, JF Kapnek and CHAI are leading the Early Identification and Intervention (EIEI) Global State Initiative. This initiative focuses on improving early support systems in Africa and Asia through:

  • Literature reviews
  • Surveys and interviews with over 20 stakeholders
  • Policy mapping
  • Development of a global resource hub
  • Exploration of a coalition to scale best practices
