The Nexus Project explores how to strengthen disability-inclusive programming in fragile contexts affected by conflict and climate change. By combining research and learning from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Burkina Faso and Cameroon, it informs inclusive humanitarian and development approaches.

The Nexus Project bridges humanitarian aid and long-term inclusive development to better support children and youth with disabilities (CYWD) facing layered vulnerabilities in fragile environments. Through mixed-methods research in four countries — Bangladesh, Indonesia, Burkina Faso and Cameroon — the project identifies key barriers to inclusion, such as limited access to services, exclusion from education and exposure to violence. Findings are documented in a series of learning briefs that offer evidence and practical strategies for inclusive programming, collaboration and resilience in contexts shaped by conflict and climate change. Future pilot programmes based on the project’s insights are planned from late 2025 onwards.

Each brief focuses on a specific theme and is designed to support partners, practitioners, and policymakers in strengthening disability inclusion in settings affected by conflict and climate change.
